It's a fine evening.
My Gauss program as usual is taking forever to run.
I'm listening to lady marmalade on pandora.com The station is Nelly Furtado. I like Nelly Furtado. Her video promiscuous, was not promiscuous are all. It was sexy. For once somebody knows the line. Beyonce could learn something from her.
Anyway, lady marmalade, reminded me of that horrid movie I watched recently. Dreamgirls. I've got no time to watch any more movies, hence the bad taste of Jennifer Hudson is still in my mouth.
I cannot understand why the movie got such good reviews. It was nothing compared to Chicago, let alone compared to the musicals of yesteryears. Eddie Murphy was good, but I still prefer him as Donkey
The Oscars were a dull affair. No pleasant surprises except for Alan Arkin. Can't believe they replaced Jon Stewart with Ellen D. I only caught the red carpet photos online. I didn't particularly like anyone's gown except Gweneth Paltrow. It was really cool. I've put her photo up. She should be put of the high school Geometry text books.
I'm finally reading "the curious incident of the dog in the night time". A wonderful book. I read a few pages while waiting for the bus, every morning. I cannot believe there is a proof in the appendix. I actually gave it a try. Took me back to the days when I would solve those olympiad questions day and night. Especially during free classes in school(Sophias..not NPS(the concept of free didn't exist there))Those were fun days.
I haven't caught Last King or The Queen. But that'll have to wait. Methinks Gauss is done. Ciao Blog.

And what is a Gauss program?
I slipped and fell on the road today.. If I were sixty my hip would be broken! boy i hate the rains...
Nelly Furtado's latest album has really impressed me!
I saw a terrible movie today.. The Holiday. The best part of it was a 5-second cameo by dustin hoffman! Oof... I haven't seen a good romantic comedy since The Devil Wears Prada!
and oh gosh you used to solve Olympiad problems in your free periods in school? I'm so sorry! Poor you... :P

i agree that "the curious incident" is an excellent read, but totally disagree on the dress. Thought it was horrendous! :D

Parakeet. It's a programming language for economists. IT's raining like crazy here too. Hope you are fine.
The holiday was decent for me. Cause all I did was look at Jude LAw. I don't think I heard the dialogues even!
Anji: what book you reading now?

hmmm i just finished kite runner.. started off thinking it would be just hype, but ended up liking it.. now i'm trying to read Pilgrim's Progress.. its this weird christian book.. supposed to be a classic.. but i'm not making much progress with it!
You liked "The Devil Wears Prada", Perekath? True, the performances by Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep were brilliant... but Anne Hathaway... what can I say, she's like the Tom Cruise of actresses.
"The Holiday" truly sucked, I could not agree more... Jack Black in a romantic comedy, really?
"Curious..." is brilliant.
Do watch "Last King of Scotland", it's an excellent movie, as I have said on my blog before.

oh i thought it was a killer flick! made me want to get all dressed up afterwards :)
Gauss was a mathematician/physicist, what are you guys doing appropriating him? Stick to your Shazam and Stata! :P
Did anyone like Closer? (thinking of Jude Law)

Gauss is quite good, it's mainly used by the Chemistry department now. The Economics department has moved on with LatentGold (a rather long leap from STATA). However, LatentG is still as slow as Gauss.
Closer to Jude law to Natalie Portman to her SNL skit to Lazy Sunday and Chronic-les of Narnia (search for SNL Lazy Sunday on youtube...)

This Latent gold thing hasn't reached Singapore yet. Hmph! But Largely all econometricians use Gauss or Matlab(many prefer matlab)
anyway..
Econometricians usually tend to be mathematicians first, hence the name Gauss I guess.
Closer..gosh, I haven't seen the trailer even. i feel bad. I am not living up to my movie buff reputation!

Well, the econometricians at D School still use Stata and Shazam! Plammoottil had never heard of Gauss the program. And he's more computer-savvy than Puri... Perhaps ISI uses Gauss or MatLab or LatentGold (my god what names!)
Pai you should watch Closer, I think you'd like it. Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Julia Roberts, and Clive Owen. It was a play first, would've been a decentish play i think...
